Competence centers developing the national personalized medicine program

The project advances the implementation of personalized medicine in the healthcare service system by strengthening the collaboration between biobanks and national centers of competence. The aim is to create a basis for a national personalized medicine program, which covers both prevention and treatment. Cancer and brain diseases have been chosen as pilot areas, as the increase in cases and use of individualized treatment emphasize the importance of national collaboration. The work will take into account the RDI Growth Programme for Health and Wellbeing, the National Genome Strategy and the National Cancer Strategy, as well as the Brain Health Strategy, currently under preparation. The project will strengthen the role of biobanks in the development of personalized medicine.
The project aims to:
- Advance the use of personalized medicine in healthcare through collaboration between competence centers and biobanks.
- Solidify the activities and role of biobanks, the Finnish Cancer Center, Neurocenter Finland and other competence centers in the the RDI ecosystem.
- Strengthen collaboration between competence centers and biobanks.
