Project: The aim is to promote the utilization of personalized medicine within the healthcare service system by strengthening collaboration between biobanks and national centers of expertise. The project enhances the collection of biobank samples related to the diseases selected for piloting, harmonizes the recording of health data associated with the samples, and ensures that biobank samples and their linkable data—important for both healthcare and research—are more widely accessible. As a result, the role of biobanks in the development of personalized medicine will be strengthened.

The aim is to expand and enhance the scope and quality of multidisciplinary research within the university’s Neuroscience Research Community (NEURO-RC). The doctoral program strengthens the development of health-related innovations in Finland and beyond.

Project: The aim is to establish Finland’s first multidisciplinary research center for audiology and audio technology RDI activities in North Savo, ensuring both the necessary expertise and data infrastructure. The project serves industry, educational institutions (University of Eastern Finland, Savonia University of Applied Sciences), and healthcare and research organizations by bringing them together to form a hearing-related expert network and to attract national and international talent to the region. The strong academic foundation and knowledge gained through the project will be applied to support development and innovation activities, as well as local companies. It is particularly noteworthy that audiological research and product development require a multidisciplinary approach that combines acoustics and audio expertise (physics), neuroscience, and clinical medical audiology.
